The Barbiglione is the name in the Palaia dialect for the bee-eater, a splendid, colorful bird that ties its existence to territories abundant with sand. It’s wonderful to see it flying above our vineyards. A wine born to satisfy the senses and produced from our finest grapes, which, thanks to the sandy soil, reach their fullest expression. This wine is the best testimony to narrate the story and terroir of Usiglian del Vescovo.
VINIFICATION
The hand-picked grapes are placed in 200 kg crates and brought to the cellar to be destemmed, sorted on the vibrating tray, and pressed. Depending on the vintage, there follows a maceration period of 15-20 days. Punch-downs and pump-overs are carried out respecting the matrix. The malolactic fermentation takes place in cement tanks, then the wine is aged in barriques and tonneaux. Once bottled, it rests in the cellar before reaching your glasses.
TASTING NOTES
Deep color with a purplish hue. Intense on the nose, complex with pronounced notes of red fruits such as blackberry, currant, and blueberry. At first taste, the wine appears enticing, then it evolves into an intriguing tannic explosion. Persistent finish and surprisingly fresh.
PAIRINGS
Perfect accompaniment for red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Its intense floral and fruity bouquet, combined with its freshness, make this wine the ideal pairing for spicy dishes and special occasions.
